All Sangha classes are inspired by Eastern philosophy, modern mindfulness teachings and the natural world, and translated through the authenticity of the individual teacher. We strive to provide you with an experience that works the body, clears the mind and above all lifts your spirit to new heights.
Body and breath unite in a fluid practice designed to build heat and energy for the purpose of strengthening, opening and purifying the body and mind. Each class is uniquely sequenced to create opportunities for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual growth. Teachers use their personal journey, the natural world, eastern mysticism and modern mindfulness teachings along with music and a compassionate presence to motivate students to find their edge and let go.
The mythical and the mystical collide in a practice designed to raise the vibration of love and feed the spiritual heart. We will chant, breath, sweat, surrender and celebrate our way to a state of oneness and discover the power we hold to heal ourselves and the power we have to contribute to the healing of the world. This is a Sangha special and each teacher is given the freedom to go beyond the physical practice and offer a healthy dose of spirituality with the use of chanting, deep breath work, cleansing rituals and meditation. Come prepared for a unique and satiating experience!
Ashtanga inspired Vinyasa
This traditional style of practice dates back to the late 19th and early 20th century. It was the first method of physical yoga to combine breath and movement for the purpose of creating internal heat, increasing detoxification and building mental focus, strength and flexibility within the student. It was made famous by Sri K. Patabhi Jois, a student of the late father of modern day yoga Tirumalai Krisnamacharya. In this dynamic and vigorous class we use the Ashtanga Primary Series as a framework for a traditional Vinyasa class. With a special focus on Ujjayi breath we connect the flow of breath with movement. The practice begins with a grounding excercise, followed by the Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar), a standing sequence, seated postures and backbends followed by the finishing asanas which contain inversions, a calming closing sequence and a final relaxation (Savasana). 3 months previous yoga experience recommened.
Slow Flow classes connect accessible yoga postures with breath and fluid movement in a well-rounded practice. With a slower pace, there’s time to explore individual postures so that new students can build confidence and familiarity, while more experienced students can refine fundamentals of alignment and explore deeper sensations. Enjoy options within each guided posture so you can customize your class experience.
Expecting moms will be guided to listen to their changing bodies as they flow through breath guided movements designed to keep them strong, open, centered and connected to the powerful Goddess within. This practice will be tailored to meet the needs of the pregnant body without depriving a woman’s primal need to be challenged and engaged physically, mentally and spiritually. Like Beyonce, we’ll inspire you to hold nothing back unless that’s what you need and then we’ll remind you to make no apologies about it!
This 8 class series dives into the beginning stages of a yoga practice. Each class will build upon the next and offer guidance on the physical postures, basic anatomy, breath work and yoga philosophy. Our mission is to give you the necessary knowledge and tools you will need to step into any class and feel safe and confident. The class is meant for beginners as well as those seeking to refine their practice. It can be taken multiple times and all are welcome!
This class is designed to tune the nervous system to the frequency of tranquility. You will be led through a series of postures fully supported by various props to ensure deep relaxation without strain or effort. Our goal is to allow time and space to relax and rest into the present where mental, physical and emotional healing begin. All are welcome and comfortable layered attire is recommended.
Studio owner Heather Falkin designed this class to be a time to pump up the volume on the music and the physical practice in an effort to free the inner freak and let the flag or your individuality fly. Come prepared to move and breathe rigorously to the rhythm of your breath and the sound of a kickass playlist by the teacher. Walk in ready to move, walk out ready for anything!! 3 months previous Vinyasa practice recommended.
Although not as fluid as a Vinyasa practice, Hatha classes provide an equal opportunity to challenge the body and center the mind. Postures are held for longer periods of time to emphasize alignment and key anatomy principles. More advanced postures will be addressed here, with suggestions for modifications to facilitate stability and safety within each pose. Teachers find creative ways to transition from one pose to another without putting unnecessary strain on joints. This class is safe for beginners and will challenge the novice and advanced practitioners alike.
Sivananda hatha is a traditional, slow paced, meditative class that helps encourage proper breathing, flexibility, strength and vitality in the body while calming the mind. Because Yoga is a spiritual system with a physical component, this non-competitive approach helps the practitioner gain much more than just a healthy body.
A typical open level class includes pranayama (breathing exercises), warm-ups including Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar), 12 basic asanas (postures) and deep relaxation. The focus is on mastering the basic asanas from which variations are then added to further deepen the practice. The asanas follow an exact order that allows for the systematic movement of every major part of the body in a balanced way that enhances prana or life force energy, keeping the mind quiet and without the need to think beyond each individual pose. Additional variations may also be taught.
This class explores the release of deeply held patterns within the connective tissue of the body. You will steep in the benefits of passivity and develop a more diagnostic relationship with the sensations you experience in the body. Emphasis is placed on being present and witnessing transient thoughts and mental patterns that veil inner stillness. Restorative poses seal the practice to contribute to the goal of total relaxation and release. Come dressed in comfy clothes prepared to unwind and unravel the stress of daily life.
Yin/Tune Up combines longer, deeper holds with facilitated placement of Yoga Tune Up Balls, resulting in deep myofascial, muscular and energetic release. Proprioception (understanding one's body mechanics/needs) can be reached more effectively and therapeutically when the student places awareness and focus into targeted areas using these methods.
